we are starting our guest house/wellness center/sauna/chill spot at this VERY moment. so far i have dug out about 20% of the foundation, all by myself and with a pick ax and shovel. the main building material will be COB, click *** to see what cob is.
there are the 4 elevations and 3 ground plans,
the elevations have north, south, east and west.
one ground plan has electricity and plumbing
one ground plan is blank in case you want to sketch and send me back ideas, which i am very open to and so need help.
there is no planned drainage, the toilet will be a humanure toilet, click *** and *** to see what i mean.
the sink and sauna will drain open via a tube to trees and plants.
the foundation is a 18" deep gravel lined drainage trench with a 24" solid foundation on top to this. i have started digging the trench foundation, but i am still pondering for the solid foundation if i should have a stone, brick, or stabalized sandbag. also i may or may not use a cement bond beam between the solid and gravel foundations, i need ideas here.
i am also contemplating adding a small second story/ loft for desking and sleeping space.
the sauna will be powered by a "rocket stove", click *** to see what this is.
the exhaust will first run to the sauna and be insulated accordingly to regulate heat, the exhaust will then run into the cob bench which will save the heat and provide comfort.
the roof will be an earthen roof. meaning there will be dirt on top and growing plants. the rainwater will drain to a small cistern, built maybe in 2009.
the floor will be a earthen poured adobe floor
